City Club at River Ranch in Lafayette, Louisiana is proud of its distinction as host to Lafayette's premier tennis program. Our staff of seasoned professionals led by Ashley Rhoney, our pristine courts, variety of mixers and clinics, and our newly expanded Pro Shop offerings ensure that your expectations will be exceeded.

City Club Tennis Pro Shop is a full service shop for your tennis needs.

We carry racquets, clothing and shoe lines such as:  Wilson, Prince, Babolat, Fila, Lija, Lucky in Love, Tail, Denise Cronwall, and Cortiglia Tennis Bags.  

Purchase a tennis racquet and the string and labor to string it are complimentary (approx. $45 value)!  

Our pro shop has locker rooms and showers for your convenience.  

Members can book a tennis court by calling the Pro Shop directly at 337-216-6588.  We also offer complimentary use of our ball machine between the hours of 11 AM and 5 PM.

    • Ashley Rhoney, Director of Tennis

      Born and raised in Hickory, North Carolina . He was the North Carolina junior state champion for five consecutive years 1980-1984. In 1984 won the national Interscholastic Championship and was voted an All American at South Caldwell High School in Hudson , NC . Also in 1984 was invited to the 1984 United States Olympic tryouts. 1987-1988 was a two time All American at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette . Held the No.1 national ranking in doubles during the 1988 season. Won the Surfmarc national singles title in 1986. Played professionally and held both singles and doubles world rankings during that time.

      Became the Head Professional at Red Lerelle's Health Club from 1990-1997.  Ashley's focus at that time was junior development and has coached over 20 state champions and has helped many get scholarships to some of the best schools in the nation.

      Ashley coached Chanda Rubin for seven years and toured with her for two and a half years.Ashley is one of the few professionals who has played, coached and ran events on the professional level. He has been at the City Club at River Ranch since its inception in the summer of 2001.

      Elliot Minvielle

      • Certifications/Recognitions: B.S. Finance - University of Louisiana at Lafayette
      • He was a two-time Louisiana state doubles runner up for Lafayette High School.
      • Also played four years for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where they claimed the Sunbelt Conference championship, and received a top 50 national ranking NCAA Division I.
      • Since college, he has played professional level events in Europe, Asia, Central America, and the United States, where he has picked up wins over multiple guys inside the top 1500 ATP.
      • He is available to teach adults and children at any level

      Buck Bobo

      • Certifications/Recognition: USTA Certified; Ranked top 10 in junior boys 16-18's Alabama.
      • Experience: 16 years; Head Pro Peninsula Racket Club - 8 years; Director of Tennis at Beach Club - 3 years; Co-Director of Tennis/Head
        Pro City of Gulf Shores - 4 years. Coached Alabama Southern Davis/Fed Cup in 2002. Coached numerous juniors with state, sectional and national rankings - some that went on to play Division I, II & III college tennis. Current AES High School Coach - Won Girls State Title in 2014 and Girls State Runner-up 2015.

      Dominique Laporte

      Dominique Laporte is a Guatemalan native and currently seeking a business major at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette . He is available to teach adults and youth.

      • Competed in all of the Guatemala National Ranking Tournaments; finishing in the top 10


      Kyli Lassalle

      • Kyli Lassalle was born and raised in New Iberia, Louisiana and is a graduate of Catholic High School of New Iberia and Seton Hall University (B.A. Communications) in South Orange, New Jersey.
      • She is a two time Louisiana State High School tennis singles champion and was the number one ranked tennis player in Louisiana as well as a top 15 ranked southern player and a top nationally ranked player.  
      • As a Seton Hall pirate, Lassalle enjoyed playing number one singles and doubles against top ranked NCAA Division I opponents such as Harvard, Notre Dame, Miami and more and competed in the Big East Championships and well as ITA events. 
      •  Kyli enjoys working with players of all levels, as she has coached students of all ages from the beginner level to national competitors.

  • Court Etiquette
    • As a tennis player, it is important that you know and follow the rules and  practice the courtesy of good sportsmanship and etiquette  on the courts.  Please know and abide by the following rules which will ensure a better playing experience for all Members and Guests.

      • Reservations can be made up to 2 weeks in advance by calling the Pro Shop. Maximum of 2 courts can be reserved under one Member.
      • Courts may be reserved for a maximum of 2 hours.
      • As a courtesy, please cancel court reservations as soon as possible so that others may book court time.
      • The use of the ball machine is complimentary to Members (ages 13 and above) and can used between the hours of 11am and 5pm.  Two courts will be reserved with the ball machine and the ball machine must be returned to the Pro Shop after use. 
      • All Guests must pay a $15 Guest fee and it is to be paid prior to going on court.
      • Please wear appropriate attire on courts.  Shirts & proper tennis shoes must be worn, no cut-offs or jeans. 
      • No profanities, yelling or screaming at any time while on court. Be respectful at all times.
      • Cell phones must be silenced.
      • No food, glass containers, skateboards, pets are allowed on court.
      • Do not participate in any behavior that would risk injury to anyone else, such as throwing your racquet or any object on or off the court.
      • If you are around the tennis courts but not playing, please keep noises to an appropriate level and respect Members who are playing.

  • Tennis Lessons
    • Grab your racket and step onto one of our courts. Our first-class facilities play host to league and tournament play, as well as social events and mixers. Ashley Rhoney and his staff of tennis pros offer private or group lessons, so our Members learn from the area’s pre-eminent tennis experts.  A 24 hour cancellation policy is in effect for all private and group lessons. Should this cancellation not be made, the full lesson price will be charged to your account.
      Our class and clinic menu's are designed to offer guidance, education and a challenging work-out for all skill and age levels. For those seeking tennis lessons to enhance their game, we offer a full spectrum of lessons including private, semiprivate, team and doubles strategy.

      Cardio Tennis, Tuesdays, 6:00 - 7:00 PM & Fridays, 8:30 - 9:30 am

      A complimentary group tennis class set to music.  Members are welcome to bring a Guest for a $15 fee.

      Men's Tennis, Saturdays 9:00 - 11:00 am

      Complimentary Round robin play every Saturday morning.  Members are welcome to bring a Guest for a $15 fee.
  • Tennis League
    • You must be a member of City Club to be on a City Club Ladies Day League team as well as a USTA night league team.Lafayette Ladies Day League team Members do not pay a fee to play on the courts. 

      USTA members, playing at night, who are not City Club Members are required to pay a $5.00 court fee. If you are interested in playing on a City Club ladies day league team, please contact the pro shop at 216-6588 and our staff can put you in touch with a City Club team captain at your level. 

      If you are interested in playing on a USTA City Club team, please check the website,, to see if a team has been established for the particular league you are wanting (i.e. combo, mixed, etc.).
