The City Club of Lafayette was founded in 1978 and was located on the top floor of the FNB Towers in downtown Lafayette, LA until October 2002 with The Club's re-location to The Village of River Ranch as the primary tenant of the Town Square. Since its inception, the City Club has been at the center of Lafayette's culinary and entertainment scene.

The move to River Ranch reflected a trend in the industry for clubs to move from downtown urban areas to suburban growth spots to offer additional services to its Members. So, instead of being at the top of the town, the City Club is in the center of the city.
